Reporting Road Hazards in and around Southampton

As you may well be aware, MAG campaigns at a local level about the poor state of our roads. To help the local council fix any problems, we have created this list of local authority contacts, so that you know where to report the hazard too. If you find it useful, please let us know! We will update this page as and when we find more information.

Either phone or write to the address below.

You will need to include the following information.

"It is considered that because of <state cause of hazard> the road at <exact location - include landmarks, roads e.g. outside 31 Acacia Avenue> is potentially hazardous to two wheeled traffic."

A road hazard can be something like a loose man-hole cover, a sunken man-hole, bad backfilling, a pot-hole or a broken up road surface. Whatever you might think it should be called, if it looks dodgy, report it!

You will then have to sign, date and send your letter.

If you spot and diesel or any other temporary road hazard (such as debris, fallen tree, alien space-craft landed on the M27), please contact Hampshire Constabulary on 01962 841500. It is important to call in all diesel spills - the more officially logged, the bigger the problem appears to be (in the eyes of the bureaucracy anyway - we know its a *BIG* problem)
